AIRPORTS
Northern Cyprus has two international airports. The larger of the two is Ercan near Lefkosa ( Nicosia), the other is Geçitkale near Famagusta. Boats (Ferries)
There are regular ferry services from Kyrenia and Famagusta to towns on the Southern coast of Turkey, namely Mersin, Antalya and Tasucu. From Mersin, it is possible to sail to Syria, Lebanon and Israel.
MARINAS
There are yacht mooring facilities in Kyrenia and Famagusta.
PORTS
The main industrial port in Northern Cyprus is in Famagusta and Kyrenia.
CAR RENTAL
This service is available in all major towns and some hotels. A British or international drivers licence is required. Rental cars have red number plates.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
A good inexpensive network of buses and mini-buses operates between all the main towns, in addition there are Dolmush (shared taxis) operating on the same routes. Taxis are widely available but do not carry a meter. However, there are standard journey charges.
TRAFFIC INFORMATION
Please drive on the left. Traffic and road signs are international. Maximum speed is 100 km/hr. Vehicles entering Northern Cyprus must be insured upon arrival. Seat belts must be worn. Drivers are prohibited to drive under the influence of alcohol. The limit is 50mgr.
Passports and Visas
All the foreign country passports are recognized at the entrance ports and airports of TRNC. Greek Cypriots, Greek from Greece and citizen of Armenia should have visa. Citizen of Nigeria, Philistine, Afghanistan, Libya, Armenia, Greek and Greek Cypriots have to have visa, but if their people comes to TRNC as a tourist and if they come as groups they don't need any visa. Also those who are 3. world citizens that are Greek, Greek Cypriot and Armenian have to have visa. Visa applications can be done to TRNC foreign representatives for the Nations that mentioned above. If any citizen of a country that mentioned above is married to a TRNC citizen the need of a visa is evaluated in a different manner and could be more elastic. But this special condition is determined after the application to the foreign representation of TRNC. On the other hand, it is possible for the people from different nations (except the ones mentioned above) who enter Turkey, to enter TRNC freely as a tourist or with a tourist group. The same procedure is carried out to passengers who travel separately. Separate passengers have to have enough amount of cash, returning ticket and reservation to a TRNC Hotel (proving that the purpose of travel is tourism) Under these circumstances it is impossible to have a problem during the entrance of TRNC. When entering TRNC the period of the visa is determined by the immigration police officer. After entering TRNC if you have valid justifications you can apply to prolong for visa to ministry of interior.
