CALL FOR International Colloquium on Seismic Design and Retrofit of Masonry Structures

We are pleased to announce a Call for Papers to be presented on the International colloquium to be held at 7-9 May 2007, Istanbul Technical University -Turkey. The focus of the colloquium has evolved from seismic design of new building towards disaster prevention measures and retrofitting of existing masonry structures. We hope that it will contributes to the disaster prevention of existing heritage in Turkey and encourages the design of new masonry buildings.

This event is a production of www.kerpic.org and the Workshop on side will cover the entire construction activities of alker (gypsum stabilized earthen material), where all the participants can take part.

ABOUT the colloquium:
THEMES of the presentations:

1. Architecture of masonry buildings
2. Seismic designs
3. Material
4. Maintenance
5. Conservation
6. Retrofitting and Renewal

There will be in 3 days 5 sessions lecturing by Prof. Dr. Ahmad A. Hamid (McMaster University in Canada) on “Seismic design and Retrofit of Masonry Structures”
6th session on the 3rd day will be for the paper presentation of the participants. (2 hours)
Colloquium will be closed after 80 minute discussion
Final conclusion of the colloquium will be sent by mail.
Colloquium does not require a fee
Participants are free to find their accommodation

REQUIREMENTS

1. Colloquium is limited with 20 scientists
2. Language of the international colloquium is English
3. Expression of Interest form submission
4. Full-length of paper will be two pages and according to the Template
5. Paper will be presented in 5 minutes.
